Download the latest version of ubuntu. Choose an amount of ram to allocate. Select the ubuntu iso from the dialog and load it into your virtual machine. This will download the iso file of ubuntu. Enter a name and select linux as the type.

Go to the website of oracle virtualbox and get the latest stable version from here. Click install ubuntu button. Download and install virtualbox. As operating system is not installed it will ask for bootable drive. Installing virtualbox is not rocket science.
